Glove and Sleeve Leak Tester for Isolators

The Amercare Glove Leak Tester Kit provides a fast and reliable method for identifying leaks in fitted isolator gloves, gauntlets and sleeve-gloves before they compromise process integrity or safe operation.

Designed for use with isolators from all manufacturers, the automated testing process helps maintain isolator performance by identifying damaged or faulty gloves before they compromise containment.

Documented test records are also available to support GMP compliance, providing traceability of glove integrity checks and quality assurance processes.

Automated Glove Integrity Testing

The Amercare Glove Leak Tester Kit utilises the isolator’s existing air pump and pressure transducer systems to provide a fast, automated method of verifying glove integrity.

The system automatically applies the required test pressure and monitors pressure loss within the sealed test container, identifying leaks in gloves, gauntlets and sleeve-gloves in approximately one minute.

Rapid leak detection helps maintain isolator containment integrity and supports safe operation within critical aseptic and high-containment applications, while minimising downtime during integrity checks.

The Glove Leak Tester comes in a range of sizes – 150mm (6”), 200mm (8”), 250mm (10”) and 300mm (12”).

Banking plate fitted over the glove port enables integrity testing of negative pressure isolators, including fitted gauntlets.
Leak-tight test container fitted over the glove and sealed to the easy change cuff enables integrity testing of fitted sleeves and gloves on positive and negative pressure isolators.

How the Isolator Glove Leak Tester Works

Seal the test container

A leak-tight test container is fitted over the glove and sealed to the inner ring of the Easy Change Cuff System.

Connect the test system

A small diameter tube connects the container to the isolator via a simple snap connector.

Start the automated test

The user selects the glove leak test from the isolator control system menu.

Automated pressure monitoring

The isolator vacuum pump creates the required test pressure, while the pressure transducer monitors pressure loss within the container.

Receive results

Test progress and final results are displayed on the control system, with optional printed reports available.

Glove Leak Test Rationale

The glove leak test uses a pressure decay method, where pressure loss within a sealed test container is monitored over a defined period to verify glove integrity.

The leak test container has a volume approximately 1% of the isolator chamber volume. This smaller test volume provides a sensitive measurement of glove integrity, with measured pressure loss corresponding to the equivalent leakage contribution within the larger isolator chamber.

For example:

A 20Pa pressure loss over 10 seconds in the test container equates to an isolator leakage rate of less than 2Pa over 1 minute 30 seconds.

For a four-glove isolator, if all gloves pass testing, the total leakage attributable to gloves remains below 8Pa, which is within typical isolator classification limits of 25Pa over 1 minute 30 seconds.

Test settings should be established as part of site-specific SOP development, as glove materials and configurations may affect test performance.
